ABOUT US

Welcome to films section of our company, the core of what Ignition does. Our endeavour is to create opportunities that will enable the production of feature films within Australia and in particular, Queensland. Projects that are diverse and across multiple genres but all with the same objective: to seek global audiences and universally entertain. Ignition has a number of projects on its slate at various stages of development. Some are original ideas generated within the Ignition family while others are works optioned from writers with finished screenplays. Presently we are also working at adapting a novel for the big screen finished screenplays as well as novel adaptations.

As we continue to grow, so have our facilities. Now located at Stafford, within larger, more comfortable surrounds, we are equipped to produce and post-produce short and feature length projects within a low to mid-budget range. Presently we are MAC and PC based complimented by our carefully selected high end sound and picture monitoring equipment which includes 100” projection direct (or not) from the timeline. Editing, picture grading, sound mixing, authoring and really quite outstanding coffee is all under the one roof just six kilometres from the CBD. Depending on your project’s scope dry hire can be negotiated upon request or technician assisted services are always available.

Ignition is interested in hearing from you and relationship building is important to us. Whether you’re a writer, actor, director, crew member, investor, or just have an opinion on something here then please drop us a line. We’d love to hear from you.

MOVING PAVLOVA

In the tradition of Muriel’s Wedding, Parenthood and even My Big Fat Greek Wedding, the film Moving Pavlova is a feel good experience that explores the meaning of friends and family and how, sometimes in life, it’s the little things that matter the most. Moving Pavlova is the first feature film by multi-award winning director Luke Mayze and is scheduled to go into production in May 2012.

FUGUE FOR A DARKENING ISLAND

Based on the novel by author Christopher Priest (The Prestige, The Affirmation). Set in Australia in the near future, environmental catastrophe displaces millions from third world countries. Hundreds of thousands of refugees are forced into ships, some destined for the thirteen thousand kilometres of largely non patrolled Western Australian coastline. In the midst of political arrogance and sheer naivety the dreamland West’s tiny infrastructure soon begins to crumble under the devastating weight of the humanitarian crisis.

PREP RULES

'Honour, courage, leadership' is the war-cry at the prestigious Kingscliffe College for boys. Nobody espouses this mantra more than Mark, the school captain. He’s done well in a few short years – captain of the rugby team, good looks, intelligent and a natural leader. It’s his final year and if he stays on course he’ll be forever immortalised. But you don’t get that far in a place like this without trading a little piece of your soul. Beneath the impeccable polished exterior of Kingscliffe lies a murky world of sadistic bullying, favouritism and a game of survival of the fittest.

CANE

You wake, bloodied and beaten. You’re dazed and sick – you feel the toxin in your blood. You can’t see past four feet in any direction. You’re surrounded by dense vegetation: sugar cane growing above your line of sight, too soft to climb. You have to find your bearings, but it’s impossible. These fields span miles in any direction, infested with snakes and spiders. The sun beats down. Dizzy, short of breath, panicked - but you need your strength because you can hear him now. Heavy footsteps moving closer, the sound of his barbed cane knife hacking nearer. Run, as fast as you can. Any direction, any place… anywhere but here.

ARMOUR

When it comes to child custody there is only one rule: tell the best damn lie you can. Exploiting legal loopholes in an unjust system sees an abusive man manipulate and cheat his way toward winning custody of his eleven year old daughter. A gross miscarriage of justice wrapped in a bundle of red-tape sees the girl's mother increasingly alienated as she desperately tries to regain her innocent little girl.

BULLY

“What is it that can make a little girl take her own life? At 13 years old who can even contemplate such a thing? What kind of hideous world do we live in?”. Cyber bullying is now a common term. Micro-technology is firmly in the hands of children who know how best to exploit it and who fully understand what a powerful weapon it can be. The ability to terrorise, humiliate and degrade at the push of a single 'send' sees high school student Lucy trapped in a seemingly inescapable and claustrophobic world of hatred.

NINE MILES BEAUTIFUL

Darren is a typical country boy - heart of gold, loves his mum, footy, girls but above all else he loves his car. He doesn't mind being called a hoon as long as he's the best hoon around and all his mates are the same. Young, carefree and with the world at his feet he never imagined he'd lose control at the wheel, take the life of an innocent and put his brother in a wheelchair for life. Darren's done a lot of growing up in the last two years and now it's now it's time to return to the place he calls home but he's about to find out that home doesn't want him.
